he Help Fight Poverty project was born out of the pressing need to uplift teenage mothers from poverty by equipping them with vocational skills. Teenage pregnancy often leads to dropping out of school and limited opportunities for young mothers, trapping them in a cycle of poverty. This project focuses on providing these young women with essential skills in areas such as tailoring, hairdressing, and handicrafts, enabling them to build a livelihood and support their families.
At Door of Hope Foundation for Teenage Mothers, we believe the fight against poverty requires a structured, sustainable approach that empowers teenage mothers with the skills and support they need to transform their lives. Our poverty eradication process is built around three essential stages: Awareness, Skills Training, and Economic Empowerment.
The first stage in our process is raising awareness within local communities about the challenges faced by teenage mothers. We conduct community outreach programs, sensitizing both the mothers and their families on the impact of early pregnancies, the importance of vocational training, and the opportunities available to them. This outreach allows us to identify teenage mothers who are in desperate need of support, offering them a chance to escape poverty through education and skill acquisition. By creating awareness, we are breaking the stigma attached to teenage motherhood and encouraging these young women to seek help.
Once teenage mothers join the program, they undergo intensive vocational training in various fields such as tailoring, hairdressing, and handicrafts. This second stage is the backbone of our poverty eradication strategy. The training courses are designed to provide them with hands-on experience and practical skills that are in demand in local markets. During this phase, we ensure that each mother not only learns a trade but also gains self-confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose.
The final stage of the process focuses on economic empowerment. After completing their vocational courses, the mothers receive assistance in setting up their own businesses or connecting with employers. We provide them with starter kits—such as sewing machines, hairdressing tools, and craft supplies—so they can begin generating income immediately.
Additionally, the foundation helps these mothers gain access to microfinance opportunities and savings groups, allowing them to expand their businesses over time. This stage ensures that their new skills translate into long-term financial independence, enabling them to support their children and contribute to their communities.
By following this three-step process, we are actively helping teenage mothers break free from poverty and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.
